Keiter Stephens was founded in Richmond, Virginia, in 1978.
How large is the firm?
We currently have 18 principals and over 120 accountants and support staff to assist our clients, making us one of the largest independent CPA firms in central Virginia. In 2006 we merged our Charlottesville practice with the practice of Robert L. Tobey and Company.

How do you measure your quality of work?
Keiter Stephens is a member of the Private Companies Practice Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). We received an “unqualified” report (the highest rating) from our 2005 peer review performed by an independent firm. We are also registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) and received an “unqualified” report from our recent PCAOB inspection. Several of our audit principals have assisted companies with their initial public offerings and have extensive experience with the SEC’s quarterly and annual filing requirements. Based on this experience, we are qualified to audit the financial statements of SEC registrants.
